“Beautiful spot, great coffee!
We came for a coffee, loved the spot so much decided to eat breakfast...oh my gosh, the best eggs and mushrooms!!! We loved breakfast so much we came back for (take-away) lunch. The staff are so friendly and accommodating. Hats off to the chef, absolutely blew us out of the water, the sailors delight has to be the freshest and tastiest seafood basket I’ve ever had, and the Mullet Burger was a stunner!!! Best fish burger in South Australia hands down! (So good we forgot to take pictures of our lunch!)
We were visiting Goolwa on holidays and feel we may be back for the food if nothing else, delightful and delicious!”

“Scrambled eggs with smoked salmon is one of the delicious dishes, plus a number of others. The cakes are made on the premises, try the german apple cake, yum!!

The best thing is you can sip your tea/coffee and watch the waves roll in. It’s magic! Do take a jacket though if the wind is up as it can get chilly sitting eating your meal. The staff are always cheerful and happy to help you.”

“I’ve used this cafe for breakfast, coffee and lunch a few times. The service is always friendly and welcoming and food fresh, well cooked and presented and locally sourced. The cafe is a effectively a hut ice-cream kiosk with an attached gazebo, so considering the size of the kitchen, it’s amazing how they get everything out so quickly. Seafood is great, as are the salads. I’m told that it is open for dinner sometimes in summer. Hope I can get in on the act.”

“We live in Goolwa and go to Bombora often. We have never been disappointed! In whale season they can be seen performing very close and what a way to spend time drinking a great coffee. The food is top qulaity, local and very fresh. Just wonderful.”

“Cafe Bombora is a cute little kiosk right on the beach at Goolwa. The owner cooks up a storm in his tiny kitchen. Pot pie, freshest fish, delish salads, breakfasts with a twist, all with great views, And it’s licensed too if you fancy a vino with your lunch. Summer surfers, winter whales (bring your binoculars) or go for a walk along the beach! It’s only open on weekends and school holidays. If you have pets you can sit at the outside tables in the sun or under the umbrellas. We take all our friends there, everyone has just loved it!”

“Great spot in a very different little cafe run by the best seafood chef on the south coast. Sometimes closes during winter so check first. Lunches mainly in colder months but dinner on a summer’s night is a great experience. You’ll love it.”

“My family and I go there for breakfast whenever we are in Goolwa. We always book in advance on weekends and public/school holidays, as they do get busy.

Good quality food, generous serve of bacon is well-cooked, delicious coffee. We have two children (5 and 9), and the food always comes out quickly!

If the kids get too rowdy (it is a tightly packed cafe), they can play just outside the cafe, out of people’s way but still close by.

It is very chilly if there is a breeze (which is almost always!), and they do provide rugs - I still highly recommend a warm jacket.

Then run up the stairs to the lookout behind, to work off some of your breakfast, then a good walk along the beach :-)”

“We went there again for lunch this week; the most perfect place to sit, relax and enjoy a lovely meal served by excellent staff:-) The food is A1 and as it was school holidays we expected to see more children there that day but not so. More older folk enjoying a good day out. Any kids there were very well behaved and so i think it is a good place to enjoy as a family also. Would vote it 10/10 and would also love to see it opened more. In school holidays it is open each day.”

“We visited Bombora for lunch on a long weekend, after not being able to get a table for breakfast. The regular and specials menus offered include a good range of food - baguettes, a plain burger etc -but the best choices were the 5 or 6 seafood dishes. In our group of eight, we tried the salt and pepper squid and several of the fishes ,as well as a smoked chicken baguette and nugget and chips (yes, they have a kids menu). All were tasty, well cooked and made of good quality ingredients - even the nuggets. Add a great location, decent small wine list and reasonable service and this place has a winning formula.”

“Booked table several days before, table was ready on our arrival. Fantastic views over Goolwa beach.
Staff were “spot on”. Food and drinks order taken promptly. The menu is simple; the specials really interesting! I had the Coorong Mullet, it was great!
Highly recommended. I will be going back! Simple but good!”

“This place is great,Staff are very friendly and helpful. Food is great and very filling. I had a fish burger which was so yummy. Hubby had a burger which he said was outstanding. Both our coffees were nice also. It is right on the beachfront, so good on a hot day!!! Would go back again soon; only trouble is the opening times. I see it is open in the school holidays and over weekend and Fridays, which is rather worth knowing before you just turn up during the week. I would recommend it for sure.”
